It's scary to stand and up and say what has to be said, to stand by your values and to have the courage to be brave. But we have to do it! Women have to put themselves forward for board positions. Let's face it, in Australia the men are not going to be seeking us out. Get out there, state what contribution you can make to a board and make it happen. I worked in a male-dominated industry for 20 years and while I clawed my way to management status over 10 of those 20 years, I could not breach the canvas the men had stretched from one side of the company ceiling to the other.
